MONICKA R. TORRES
|
IN MEMORY OF A FALLEN DOMINICAN SOLDIER
|
| Monicka Rene Torres, was born in Santo Domingo,Dominican Republic
on January 9, 1983. She was raised and partially educated there until moving to Brooklyn, New York at the age of fifteen.
Torres, graduated with the class of 2001 from Bishop Ford Highschool
in June,and joined the United States Army in December of 2001.
She was assigned to the 15TH Personnel Service Battalion,Adet
based at Fort Hood, Texas in June of 2002.
Monicka was married on Feb. 1,2003 to an enlisted soldier who's name cannot be released. She was sent to participate in
Operation Iraqi Freedom in May of 2003 where she was killed along with six other soldiers on November 13,2003 when the vehicle they were riding in was ambushed. The incident is still under investigation.
